Quilters’ Day

This event takes place on 28th April 2018 from 10:30am to 3:50pm and will take place at Bolney Meadow Community Centre 31 Bolney Street,Vauxhall London SW8 1EZ. It is a Guild event being organised by London Region.


Morning: Connie Gilham, a member of Marsh Quilters, ConText and the Contemporary Group London, Connie will talk about her quilt "River" which won 2nd prize in the Contemporary Quilt category at Festival of Quilts 2017.

Fiddle Fingers Quilts – Judy Harris & Karen Perry.

Founders of the Fiddle Fingers Quilts charity, Judy and Karen will talk about making Fiddle Quilts for those living with dementia and about how you can get involved.

Afternoon: Gilli Theokritoff – “Please Don’t Look at the Back”

Gilli started her professional career as a shoe designer after completing a degree in Fashion and Textiles in Leicester, progressing to knitwear designer and maker before finding Patchwork and Quilting as a perfect fit for her creative and family life. She went on to complete a City and Guilds Diploma at South Notts College. Teaching followed. She belongs to the Living Threads Group which holds a biennial large exhibition as well as the Quilters’ Guild Contemporary group, regularly contributing pieces to their travelling exhibitions. She was selected as the “In the Spotlight” candidate to represent Region 10 in 2009. She is the current editor of Region 10’s newsletter Cobwebs.
Challenge: “Spring is in the Air”

The size of your challenge item can be from postcard size to a maximum of 24” x 24”. Your challenge entry can be a piece you’ve already made or a newly created work made in response to the topic. If you think you have work that fits the title of the challenge – have a try. It’s a fun way to experiment with new techniques in a smaller format!

Trader: Really Maria

Wear your name badge and you will receive a raffle ticket for the prize draw later in the day.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day. There will be a charge of £1 for unlimited tea or coffee. Please bring your own lunch.

Show and Tell – Please bring your quilts to show to an appreciative audience.

Raffle Draw – The draw for the annual raffle of our Region One Quilt will take place.

Members Bring and Buy – Bring in your unwanted items. Please price the items beforehand.

REMEMBER TO BOOK EARLY!!  Tickets will cost £15 for members and £20 for non-members BUT the GOOD NEWS is there will be an early-bird system. Buying your ticket in advance offers you a DISCOUNT of £5.
